Princess Rym Ali Awarded in the US for her Role in the Media in Jordan

America Abroad Media (AAM) honored Princess Rym Ali, Founder of the Jordan Media Institute (JMI) and Member of the Board of Commissioners at the Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC), for her significant role in media at the 5th Annual “Power of Film” Awards Dinner that was held in Washington DC last Tuesday on the 7th of November.

MA Thesis: 75% of Staff of Digital Media Aware of Freedom of Criticism

An MA thesis debated at the Jordan Media Institute has concluded that 75% of journalists and staff in digital media are aware of freedom of criticism and the oversight role related to it. Meanwhile, 46% of them said that they do not accept the detention of journalists based on Article 11 of the Cyber Crime Law (2015).

Secretary Says CTBT One of the Best International Treaties and Has Contributed to World Stability

Lassina Zerbo, executive secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), said that the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) is important for world peace and should enter into force as soon as possible. He indicated that the existence of the CTBT in itself is a success story and that it is one of the best international treaties.

Training at JMI on New Digital Media

The Jordan Media Institute (JMI) held two training sessions over the course of two days on "New Digital Media and Video Journalism," in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy in Amman. JMI students and a number of journalists from various Jordanian media establishments attended the two sessions.

MA Thesis: 12% Coverage of Corruption Cases on Local News Websites

An MA thesis submitted by Dana Ziadat, titled "Handling Corruption Cases in Jordanian Electronic Press: Study of Content Analysis" and debated at the Jordan Media Institute, has revealed that coverage of local news websites of corruption cases was around 12%, compared with other public issues.

The Jordanian Media Credibility Monitor (Akeed) took part in the annual exhibition of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) on 25-26 October. It featured a pavilion under the name "News Café".

UNESCO Internet Universality Indicators consultations organized at Jordan Media Institute

The consultation sessions were attended by over 20 Internet experts including government representatives, private sector representatives, data protection advocates, privacy experts, academia and members of civil society and educational institutions. UNESCO Director for Freedom of Expression and Media Development Director Guy Berger presented the Organisation’s new project “Defining Internet Universality Indicators”. The initiative aims to develop indicators for governments and other stakeholders

MA Thesis at JMI: 13% Hate Speech on News Websites

A study titled "Hate Speech on Jordanian News Websites: Content Analysis," of a number of local news websites about the spread of hate speech in the Jordanian media has shown that it makes up 13% of the total news items that were studied.
