Amman, 27 December (JMI) -- The participants in a workshop held to prepare for the second stage of the project on developing local and community radios, organized by the Jordan Media Institute (JMI) in partnership with UNESCO and the EU, discussed JMI plans for training workers at radios and developing media content and internal organization. <br />

Representatives of the target radios attended the two-day workshop, which was held in the Dead Sea area. They discussed the principles of internal organization, managing staff and volunteers, and best practices for setting organizational plans of radios, collective organization, and networking between the target radios. <br />
<br />
Dr. Basim Tweissi, dean of JMI, said that collective organization in the media acquires special importance in terms of contributing to developing its institutions and winning the confidence of the public, which is the basis of media work. He added that collective organization involves setting plans for administrative organization within radios and determining professional terms of reference, such as developing an editorial policy. <br />

Hanadi Gharaibeh, officer in charge of the project at UNESCO, said: We are happy to be working in partnership with JMI to support the capacities of local radios. We hope that the outputs of this workshop will provide an incentive for developing the work strategy at the target radios and contributing to capacity building plans. <br />
