12 Sep 2017

Amman - The Jordan Media Institute (JMI) organized an orientation day for students admitted to the MA program for 2017/2018. During a meeting with the new students, a briefing was made on the JMI's vision, which is based on distinction and outstanding education in the fields of journalism and new media, as well as qualifying students academically and practically. This is done through a scientific program that depends on the values of accuracy, objectivity, and independence, and the ability to employ modern technology in professional and distinguished journalistic work.

JMI Dean Dr. Basim Tweissi welcomed the new students and urged them to work seriously and tirelessly to become outstanding journalists and to take advantage of the academic opportunities available to them and the training courses offered by the JMI to its students during their study.

The JMI dean also spoke about the main features of the MA program in Journalism and New Media and the opportunities it provides to students. He pointed out that the academic program at the JMI was designed in line with the concept of working under pressure and focusing on giving students all the journalistic skills that qualify them to be all-round journalists who can benefit from modern technology and basically employ it in journalistic work.

Nour Ibrahim, a new student, said that she chose the JMI to study MA in Journalism and New Media because the JMI is a house of experience in methodological media teaching, which is based on new foundations that combine theory and practice. The JMI also produces knowledge through videos, documentary films, and other methods that enable journalists to communicate their ideas correctly to their audience.

During the orientation day, new students were provided with information about the programs and procedures of registration. They were introduced to the basics that every postgraduate student must know, such as academic laws and regulations and general conditions at the JMI. There was a presentation of the study plan for next year. There was also an open discussion between a number of members of the teaching and administrative staff and the students.

The student admission system at the JMI requires that students pass five written tests and personal interviews.
