Television Storytelling Workshop Concludes at JMI

<strong>6 March 2016</strong><br /> &nbsp;<br /> Jordan Media Institute (JMI) held a workshop on television storytelling for the students of the Journalism and New Media Master&rsquo;s Program in cooperation with the Norwegian Institute of Journalism (IJ).<br /> <br /> The training program was conducted by Torben Schou, &nbsp;Danish director and reporter who is also &nbsp;known as one of the most creative and experienced television reporters of Scandinavian countries, and with the assistance of Frode Rekve, an advisor to the IJ, who has over 40 years of experience in the journalism field.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Schou shared his news reports with the students and highlighted the importance of the human element in news coverage.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> The students also produced short reports as part of the training which focused on developing their skills in television storytelling in accordance with what Schou calls as the ten laws of storytelling. Those include keeping the story simple and the sound bites short and focusing on the people. He also highlighted the importance of being creative and urged them to tell the story and not the process.&nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;<br /> This was Schou&rsquo;s second training session at JMI in as many years and was the result of four years of cooperation between JMI and IJ.<br /> &nbsp;
