Jordan Media Institute Appoints Dr. Najah Abdallah as Dean

Jordan Media Institute (JMI) has appointed Dr. Najah Abdallah as Dean to lead the Institute’s ambitious drive to contribute to raising the standards of the media sector and meet a growing need for media professionals across Jordan and in the region.

 

The Chairman of JMI’s Board of Directors, Radi Alkhas welcomed Dr. Abdallah ’s appointment as a boost to the Institute, a specialized academician in the field of media and journalism. He indicated that the new Dean has a multi-faceted academic and practical experience having lectured at various prominent Arab and international academic institutions.

 

“I’m proud to be a member in this progressive Institute, which seeks to contribute to setting new standards for journalism in Jordan and the Middle East. This comes in response to increasing demands from the industry for qualified media professionals,” said Dr.  Abdallah upon assuming her duties.

 

Dr. Abdallah  added that she will work on fulfilling the Institute’s mission of raising the professional level of the industry by providing advanced academic and training opportunities, through a Master’s programme and other specialized training courses in media and journalism.  The Institute’s Master’s degree is a year-long, 33 credit hour program, delivered in the Arabic language.

 

Dr. Abdallah  received her Ph.D. in Science of Information and Communication from the Université Michel De Montaigne, Bordeaux III, France, in 1992. She had teaching appointments at several universities in the Arab World and Europe, including Lebanese University, University of Balamand (Lebanon), Notre Dame University (Lebanon), University College of Bahrain, Qatar University, and the Institute of Political studies (France).

Dr. Abdallah also worked as Fulbright Visiting Professor at Georgetown University in Washington, and Notre Dame University and Goucher College in Maryland, USA. She has also taken part in numerous conferences and seminars and has published several articles and research on various issues relating to the sector.
