JMI Mourns Dr. Hossein Shahidi

<br /> It is with great sorrow that the Jordan Media Institute mourns the passing of one of its former faculty members. Dr. Hossein Shahidi passed away in a London hospital this week after spending his life working towards and promoting the concept of a free and independent media.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Dr. Shahidi held the position of Assistant Professor at JMI during the years 2009 to 2012 where he taught and trained several generations of Jordanian and Arab journalists and media professionals. &nbsp;He held a Doctorate of Philosophy focusing on professional journalism from Oxford University, and worked in several academic institutions such as the American universities in Beirut and Kuwait in addition to the Lebanese American University. &nbsp;Dr. Shahidi also worked with the BBC in London.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Dr. Shahidi was a great educator, and he will surely be missed and remembered by all those who knew and worked with him. &nbsp;May he rest in peace.
