JMI Welcomes New Batch of Students

13 September 2015<br /> <br /> Jordan Media Institute (JMI) welcomed its seventh batch of students in the Master&rsquo;s Program of Journalism and New Media for the academic year 2015-2016.<br /> <br /> The 32 young men and women met on Sunday, 13 September 2015 with the JMI team and Dean Dr. Basim Tweissi who stressed the importance of the practical training and academic trips, provided by JMI for the students, in expanding their digital media skills and awareness of the developments in the media industry.<br /> <br /> The group consists of mostly Jordanian, but also includes Palestinian and Syrian students. They toured the facility which includes a newsroom and two radio and television studios. The students, half of whom are females, were also introduced to the advanced news editing equipment and hi-tech video and still cameras that they will be using during the three semesters at JMI. &nbsp;<br /> <br /> The students were selected after passing several written exams and personal interviews and qualified for the full and partial scholarships provided by the JMI with the support of its friends and partners.<br /> <br /> The Master&rsquo;s Program of Journalism and New Media consists of comprehensive and thesis tracks with the former focusing on acquiring digital media skills and practical journalism training, and the latter on research skills and laws and ethics of the profession. &nbsp;&nbsp;<br /> <br /> More than 120 students have so far graduated from JMI with a large number of them finding jobs at reputable local, regional and international media organizations. &nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;
