The Master’s degree in Journalism and New Media is awarded jointly by JMI and the University of Jordan. Applicants can hand in their application forms by visiting the institute, or submitting the form electronically through JMI’s website (www.jmi.edu.jo).

JMI Dean Dr. Basim Tweissi said the institute will offer 35 partial and full scholarships this year, depending on the applicant’s level of achievement in the written exam and interview.

The Master’s program runs along two tracks: the first is the comprehensive exam track which focuses on graduating professional journalists equipped with advanced skills, specifically in the field of digital media, while the second is the thesis track which focuses on academic research and qualifies the graduates as professional journalists.

The program applies advanced quality standards in journalism education, and balances between theory and practice, besides its integration of communication technology and digital applications. JMI is the first educational institution in the Arab world to develop a journalism educational curriculum through making use of digital environment elements, in addition to helping the students build a solid foundation of knowledge and culture through extracurricular activities and hosting distinguished guest lecturers from around the world who provide great opportunities for students to learn and explore new horizons.

Tweissi added that students are given the opportunity to visit international media organizations and interact with renowned Arab and international journalists and reporters. JMI has also organized academic trips for its students to Norway and Sweden as well as the Media and Digital Literacy Academy in Beirut and the Salzburg Academy on Media and Global Change.

The institute which maintains good relations with its alumni also helps its graduates secure internships in leading media institutions like MBC Group, CNN Arabic, BBC, Al Jazeera, and the Indian Institute of Mass Communication.

Dr. Tweissi urged journalists and graduates interested in working in the field of media to benefit from this opportunity by applying and competing for a scholarship.

Applicants must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution and should be able to pass all the admission exams, samples of which can be found on the website.

Admission criteria: http://jmi.edu.jo/en/Content/C-33/Admission
Application form: http://bit.ly/1Sbdh0q
