<strong>Her Royal Highness Princess Rym Ali Meets Deputy Premier Thneibat</strong><br /> <br /> 11 May 2016<br /> <br /> Her Royal Highness Princess Rym Ali met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Dr. Mohammad Thneibat at the Jordan Media Institute (JMI) on Wednesday 11 May. Princess Rym, founder of JMI, accompanied Dr. Thneibat on a tour of the facility and briefed him on the Journalism and New Media Mater&rsquo;s program as well as the training sessions that the institute provides to its students, journalists and the community.<br /> <br /> They discussed the importance of exposing students at all academic levels to the concept of media and information literacy, which is defined as the ability of citizens to deal with the media and to access, organize and analyze information and create texts, images and sounds through all available media platforms.<br /> <br /> Dr. Thneibat showed great interest in media literacy and ways to deal with and analyze information, stressing the importance of such concepts and skills in helping children and youth deal with the huge amount of information on the internet, social media and other platforms.<br /> <br /> JMI Dean, Dr. Basim Tweissi, spoke about the partnership between JMI and UNESCO to introduce media and information literacy concepts into educational institutions. He stressed the institute&rsquo;s readiness to cooperate with the ministry in spreading awareness among students and training teachers on those and other concepts, in addition to reaching out to decision makers,&nbsp; opinion leaders and the community.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;
