Amman - The Jordan Media Institute (JMI) hosted 30 students from the Danish university, Vallekilde Højskole. They took part in an open day and in discussions with JMI students on a number of political, cultural, and social topics. This is part of the student exchange program at the JMI.
During the visit, an interactive program was organized, in addition to dialogue between the university students and JMI counterparts to learn about common interests and exchange views on political conditions in the region and the concepts of democracy, coexistence, and openness on others.
The visit included a briefing about the JMI by Yasar Durra, director of training. The students then toured JMI facilities and had a look at its modern equipment, including television and radio studios and newsrooms. They recorded a number of programs and interviews.
(Sofia Berholm), a student at Vallekilde Højskole, said that "our experience at the JMI was great, especially since most of the students within the delegation wish to study journalism. We largely interacted with the students here and exchanged experiences, opinions, and information about our two countries. We now have a clearer view of Jordan and the region".
Tala al-Sharif, a JMI student, said that the two sides have different cultures, "but the conversations made us see that there are similarities between us. We exchanged views about challenges in the Arab world, the educational system, and how we can change stereotypes about Arab societies in the West and about them here".
Vallekilde Højskole is one of the most important universities in Denmark. The JMI had previously hosted around 100 students from the university as part of three delegations.
