Jordan Media Institute (JMI) signed an academic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations at Ramon Llull University in Spain, in order to encourage cooperation in journalism, communication and international relations, and to enable JMI graduates to join the University’s PhD program in communication and media studies.

Under the terms of the MoU, academic knowledge, staff and lecturers will be exchanged to develop specialized courses and seminars. The two parties will also cooperate in conducting research, studies, projects and scientific papers as well as academic, scientific and cultural initiatives.

JMI graduates will be able to join the PhD program offered by the Blanquerna School based on the agreed-upon terms. They will also be able to follow-up part of their research in Jordan while maintaining constant contact with their supervisors – as the program requires a minimum of three-months stay in Spain for every academic year.

JMI Dean, Dr. Basim Tweissi, said that "This MoU comes within the framework of JMI’s endeavor to expand its international and regional relations with academic and professional institutions. This agreement will provide partial grants and offer nominal fees to graduates who wish to pursue their PhD studies."

The PhD program aims to develop the skills and abilities of distinguished researchers and to help them in conducting research in press, social communication, media, advertising, public relations, television and film studies, etc.

It is worth mentioning that the PhD program at Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations runs for three years and is offered in three languages: English, Spanish and Catalan.
