Project: Develop the Capacities of Women in Leadership when Dealing with the Media

Objectives:

The project aimed to empower women in leadership roles to deal with the media and the authorities, by targeting the following groups:

• Women leaders in local communities.
• Male and female Parliament Secretariat staff.
• Female MPs in the eighteenth Parliament.
• Novice reporters.
• Journalists with mid-level experience.
• Journalists with 7-years of experience or more.

Project Description:

The project entailed:

1. Training women leaders on dealing with the media and governance.
2. Training Parliament Secretariat staff on spokesperson and governance skills.
3. Training female MPs on the best practices in dealing with the media and governance.
4. Training journalists with varying levels of experience on how to cover news related to female MPs and women in leadership roles.

Project Outputs:

1. Conducting a training workshop for women leaders in local community development, attended by 16 women, including former MPs, managers of community campaigns and representatives of civil society organizations working in the field.
2. Organizing a training workshop for Parliament Secretariat staff on spokesperson and governance skills, attended by 10 employees of the General Secretariat’s Media Directorate.
3. Conducting a symposium “Best Practices in Dealing with Media Outlets & Inclusive Governance”, attended by 12 women from the members of the 18^th parliament.
4. Conducting a training workshop “Writing Reports and News about Female Parliament Members, Political Leaders and Inclusive Governance” for 16 journalists with 7-years of experience or more.
5. Conducting a training workshop “Writing Reports and News about Female Parliament Members, Political Leaders and Inclusive Governance” for 12 journalists with mid-level experience.
