Jordan Media Institute Concludes “Facebook Journalism” Workshops

Amman – Jordan Media Institute (JMI) concluded the last training session of the "Facebook Journalism" workshops which were held in cooperation with the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and the Facebook Journalism Project.

The four workshops, which were attended by 120 participants from various media organizations in Jordan, focused on the process of validating information and verifying images, e-security, storytelling, and interacting with users and viewers.

JMI Projects Manager, Nihad Jariri, said that Facebook’s support for this Project comes with the aim of integrating the concepts of journalism and social media sites, clarifying the negative and positive impacts of social media on journalism, and spreading the culture and ethics of professional journalism amongst social media users.

The “Facebook Journalism Project” announced its intention to train 2500 journalists from all around the Arab World, where special training on its tools are conducted in partnership with journalism training institutions and aims at benefiting media outlets and journalists alike.
