Jordan Media Institute (JMI) held four workshops in collaboration with the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) on social media journalism that was sponsored by the Facebook Journalism Project and in which around 100 activists participated.

The workshops, hosted at JMI over four days, included several topics including storytelling, fact-checking, securing accounts and developing interactivity with audiences.

The participants, including journalism and communications students, social media activists, and interested members of civil society, expressed interest in the large impact of this type of journalism, has become the largest source of information and news. They added that the information they discussed during the workshops helps them reach larger audiences more securely to provide them with more accurate reports.

Participants received an accredited certificate from JMI, ICFJ, and Facebook.

120 participants had taken part in similar workshops at JMI last year, specializing in news verification, cybersecurity, story narration and interaction, part of a training program that targeted hundreds of journalists in the region.
