As part of the educational program organized by the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), a number of outstanding students from US universities visited the Jordan Media Institute (JMI) today. The visit included organizing a conversation with students of the MA program in journalism and new media at JMI.
The session, which was moderated by Yasar Durra, director of training at JMI, included an exchange of ideas on educational systems in the two countries, specifically teaching journalism and media, and available opportunities to students, besides discussing the situation of media in Jordan and the Middle East.
Mrs. Huda Abu Quteish from CIEE said that this group of students is currently studying media in colloquial Arabic within different levels. She said that the students are studying at US universities and come from different specializations. What distinguishes those students is their wish to study Arabic language outside their country, especially in the Middle East, which is witnessing many political developments. She added that the aim of visiting JMI is for students to get to know prestigious media centers that have an advanced level in media and to learn about the reality of media in Jordan.
Matthew, a student of international economy and Arabic language at the North Western University, expressed happiness over the visit to JMI and seeing its different facilities, including the library, news room, and other divisions of JMI. He said that JMI is an important edifice of Arab media.
