Jordan Media Institute - Amman

The Jordan Media Institute is offering 45 partial scholarships to aspiring students of the masters program in Journalism and New Media. Students from Jordan and other Arab countries are eligible, regardless of their academic specialty.

In order to receive a partial scholarship, students must meet the admissions requirements of the Institute, which include passing the admissions exam as well as a personal interview, which determines the suitability of the applicant to join the Institute’s exceptional cohort of students.

The Institute’s instruction rests on various special academic and practical programs, and on intensive instruction on both theoretical and applied aspects of the field. The language of instruction at the Institute is Arabic. The masters diploma is presented in collaboration with the University of Jordan. The complete program is one year long.

Dr. Abdel Hakim Alhusbani, the acting dean of Jordan Media Institute, says that the masters program at Jordan Media Institute provides students with professional experience that prepares them for work in the greatest media institutions. Under the instruction of the Institute’s faculty, composed of professional journalists as well as Arab and foreign professors of digital journalism, students are exposed to communication technology and new digital platforms.

Dr. Alhusbani indicates that the Institute allows its students to engage in a professional internship in the field of journalism alongside their theoretical studies. These internships are facilitated by collaboration agreements with the biggest Arab and Global media institutions, as well as academics and experts in the field of journalism.

AlHusbani went on to say that the Institute, despite the circumstances that the pandemic has imposed upon the world, was able to follow the normal course of work and study for the masters program in Journalism and New Media, instructing its students electronically over specialized platforms, preserving the students’ right to pursue their studies.

Bayan Al-Qudaa, an alumna of the program, reflects that the thing that most motivated her to study at the Institute was that its graduates leave the program as professional journalists equipped with ethical and creative standards, especially in the field of digital journalism. As she experienced during her studies, the curriculum focuses on imparting ethical and creative standards for the students’ careers, as well as balancing between theoretical and applied aspects of the discipline.

Al-Qudaa, who is now pursuing her PhD, indicated that she sensed the importance of what she saw during her masters studies at the Institute in the program that had a deliberate throughline based in academia and professional journalism. She emphasized that the Institute enabled her to pursue her doctorate and contributed to filling gaps in her professional experience and knowledge related to the field of journalism and new media.
