Jordan Media Institute - Amman
Jordan Media Institute has signed a collaboration agreement with Al-Mamlaka TV, with the aim of providing professional training opportunities for students of the institute’s masters program in Journalism and New Media. This collaboration agreement falls in line with JMI’s endeavors to provide students with the chance to actively participate in all components of the media production process.
The public broadcasting channel Al-Mamlaka provides in-depth and rapid news coverage on domestic and international events twenty-four hours a day and aims to develop a young generation of professional Jordanian journalists. The goal of the internship at Al-Mamlaka is to enhance the professional skills of the masters students in a manner that complements their theoretical and applied coursework. This will make it easier for them to find job opportunities in domestic and international media organizations in the future.
During the internship, the students will be able to work in Al-Mamlaka newsroom, in an environment that is equipped with world-class technology involving automation and remote control. They will witness the processes involved in the production of news reports and practice advanced skills in video editing, writing reports, and narrating television reports. They will learn to differentiate between kinds of interviews within news bulletins and how to prepare for them, and develop news presenting skills such as elocution and improvisation. Additionally, they will learn videography and receive training on skills that the digital department uses in its various capacities.
The participants in the internship program will be students of the program who have completed their second semester requirements, and will be selected by JMI in cooperation with Al-Mamlaka. The cooperation will involve joint development of the internship program, and joint oversight and evaluation of student achievements at the end of the internship period.
The Jordanian Media Institute has begun accepting applications for its masters program in Journalism and New Media for the upcoming year.
