Delegation From Faculty of Mass Communication at Yarmouk University Visits JMI

<span style="background-color:rgb(239, 243, 251); font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:12.8px">7/31/2017</span><br /> Amman -- The Jordan Media Institute (JMI) received a student delegation from the Public Relations Department, Faculty of Mass Communication, at Yarmouk University, accompanied by Dr. Khalaf Tahat, deputy dean of the faculty. This is part of visits in which the JMI receives delegations from inside the Kingdom and from various countries to maintain contacts and learn about JMI experiences.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Dr. Basim Tweissi, dean of the JMI, welcomed the student delegation, which includes 50 male and female students. He reviewed the role of the JMI in developing advanced teaching models, which made the JMI a center of excellence in education, as part of the MA Program on Journalism and New (Digital) Media, which contributes to training generations of journalists and media persons on the principles of professionalism and the values of independence and credibility. This is in addition to the ability of JMI graduates to compete in the labor market as their employment at prestigious institutions has exceeded 92%.<br /> <br /> The visit of the student delegation to the JMI, according to Dr. Tahat, is part of the faculty&#39;s field training course to enable students to see the experiences of establishments that are success stories and to inform students, who are about to graduate, of the available potentials and opportunities for progress awaiting them after graduation.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Dr. Tahat said: We are visiting an academic institution, which is considered one of the most distinguished in training and academic education in the field of journalism and new media. This institution enjoys good reputation not only on the local level, but also on the Arab level. He praised the great resources that the JMI provides to its students.<br /> <br /> The student tour of the JMI included the various facilities and divisions of the JMI. They were accompanied on the tour by Dr. Sakher Khasawneh, who teaches media legislation at the JMI. During the tour, Dr. Khasawneh reviewed the achievements and diverse programs that the JMI implements to serve its students and society, and the objectives it seeks to achieve to lay down new standards for journalistic education in Jordan and the Middle East.<br /> <br /> At the JMI&#39;s main hall, the student delegation met with a number of managers and employees at the JMI who explained the various tasks that their departments carry out, including the project of the Jordanian Media Credibility Monitor (AKEED), which helps media outlets to improve the quality of content and media performance. There is also the Media and Information Literacy (MIL) project and its training program, which was carried out by the JMI at two universities and eight schools in the capital, Amman, to enable students to take part in making news and express their opinions and to help them contribute to their societies.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> The student delegation visited one of the classes and had a look at some of the skills that JMI students master, including their skills to produce specialized, high-quality magazines, as an applied requirement in the curricula.&nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;
