Dr. Antoine Messarra

Dr. Antoine Messarra holds a State doctorate and a doctoral degree from the University of Strasbourg in France, a bachelor’s degree and a higher studies diploma in sociology, in addition to a higher studies diploma in law from Saint Joseph University in Beirut. He is a professor at the Lebanese University and Saint Joseph University in Beirut, and a visiting professor at several universities in Germany, Italy, Canada and Switzerland.

Professor Messarra is a member of the Constitutional Council in Lebanon, president of the UNESCO Chair for Comparative Religious Studies, Mediation and Dialogue at Saint Joseph University and a founding member of the Lebanese Foundation for Permanent Civil Peace. He is the recipient of the Award of Joseph and Laure Moghayzel Institute and UNDP for Civil Peace and Human Rights, as well as the President Elias Hraoui Award. Dr. Antoine has authored many publications on the Lebanese constitutional system, democracy, legislation and judiciary, among others.
