Forum at JMI Discusses Proposed Document of Messages on Violence, Extremism

(Jordan Media Institute) -- The Jordan Media Institute (JMI), in cooperation with the Norwegian Institute of Journalism, organized a training workshop for its students on TV news stories. It was presented by Danish director and correspondent Torben Schou, who is considered the most creative and experienced Scandinavian correspondent in TV news stories.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> The training workshop, which was supervised by Frode Rekve, adviser at the Norwegian Institute of Journalism and who has experience in journalism for more than 40 years, aimed at providing students with creative and nonconventional skills in producing TV news stories, which are also daring and contribute toward creating change.<br /> <br /> During the workshop, the students watched several samples of TV works that highlight the main elements of distinguished TV stories by focusing on the human element. Schou, who is holding his third workshop at the JMI, spoke about the influence of TV stories that speak about hope, life, and dreams on viewers. He urged students to challenge conventional methods, simplify the method of presentation, address one issue in each story, and focus on the power of the image while minimizing storytelling.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> He said that each time he comes to the JMI, he feels that students are enthusiastic about work and storytelling. He affirmed that despite cultural differences, the JMI students are not different from their European counterparts.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Frode Rekve, who has supervised several workshops and activities at the JMI over six years of partnership with the Norwegian Institute for Journalism, said that these activities promote understanding between different cultures and confirm similarities between peoples.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Students from the comprehensive and thesis tracks presented examples of short TV stories that they produced. The stories were assessed on scientific and professional foundations.&nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;
