The Jordan Media Institute (JMI) announced the appointment of H.E. Dr. Mustafa Hamarneh as Chief Executive Officer of the institute as of October 1, 2021.

Dr. Hamarneh is a founder and contributor to a series of in-depth research projects in public policy matters in the MENA region and is a member of Jordan’s 28th Senate. He has vast experience in academic and administrative leadership and continues to steer JMI into a new era of modernization and prosperity.

He served as chairman of the Economic and Social Council between 2017-20 and as director of the Center for Strategic Studies at the University of Jordan for 15 years. He also chaired the Board of Directors of the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation between 2004 and 2006 and before that worked as a consultant at the Royal Court of His late Majesty King Hussein.

Dr. Hamarneh holds a master's degree and a Ph.D. in history from Georgetown University in Washington DC, and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Madrid. He served as an Associate Professor at the Department of History at the University of Jordan and as a Professor at Georgetown University.

Jordan Media Institute is an independent and non-profit educational institution that aims to enhance the performance of journalists and media practitioners in Jordan and the region. The institute, which provides professional education and training opportunities, offers its programs in Arabic in order to raise the level of Arab media and provide foreign media outlets with professional Arabic-speaking journalists.
