JMI and Coventry University students in a cross-cultural event

Monday April 1st 2013<br /> <br /> Jordan Media Institute (JMI) hosted a group of students from Coventry University (UK) in a cultural exchange activity. The visit is part of Coventry students&rsquo; participation in the Majed AlSadi Changing lives program , an initiative between Madrasati, Eastern Holding and Coventry University.<br /> The joint activities included debates and discussions between the students, where different topics and ideas were shared relating to similar experiences in Jordan and the UK in addition to discussing education systems and the refugee situation in Jordan.<br /> In her address to the students HRH Princess Rym Ali, JMI Founder, welcomed the visitors and expressed her support of such joint activities and stressed the importance of education in general and the journalism profession in positively influencing societies towards development and prosperity.<br /> From his side Dr Majed AlSadi, chairman of Eastern Holding said: &ldquo;we have to be ready to face approaching challenges&rdquo; stressing the importance of the ethical corporate responsibility towards society.<br /> This activity is in line with JMI&rsquo;s academic goals in providing opportunities to its Master&rsquo;s Students in Journalism and New Media, for exposure and cross cultural interaction, aiming to develop their skills as future journalists.<br /> During the 12-day cultural exchange program, the UK students were also involved in activities with a Jordanian elementary school where they shared their expertise in the English language, the interior and exterior beautification of the school and music lessons among other activities.<br /> As the activity day at JMI came to an end, both JMI and Coventry students expressed their appreciation and enthusiasm of the positive impact of the cross cultural discussions and interaction outcomes of the event, from both an academic and cultural perspective.
