Amman - The Jordan Media Institute (JMI) announces that it is now receiving applications for the 12th intake to its master’s program in Journalism and New Media for the 2020/2021 academic year, starting Sunday, April 5th until July 2nd. Applications will only be accepted electronically until further notice.
JMI offers some partial scholarships for admitted students, based on specific criteria, allowing those who hold a bachelor’s degree in any major the opportunity to develop their skills and abilities in the field of journalism and media, provided they have Jordanian citizenship or the citizenship of another Arab country.
The master’s program at JMI is designed to meet the accelerating needs of digital journalism and modern communication and to empower media workers to professionally use communication and research tools. Students will also learn how to produce journalistic professional journalistic content that engages with issues and events from a number of different angles, sharing the voices of those who are often absent from the media, whose chances for empowerment decrease due to the difficult circumstances they live under.
The courses are developed and updated every year at JMI to reflect contemporary events at the local and international levels in application and practice. JMI believes in the role of journalists and media figures to serve societies by offering accurate, reliable information. JMI has over 250 graduates, 91% of whom are now employed producing professional press materials in various sectors, including at the most important Arab and global media organizations.
JMI has been distinguished since its founding over 10 years ago by its balance between application and theory in its academic program. The Institute has employed modern communication technology and digital applications in its curriculum due to its tangible role in developing the field of media and journalism. JMI has continued its educational process through live broadcasting and distance learning, despite the challenges that have confronted the world recently.
JMI offers its master’s students annual educational and academic trips to a number of countries, including Lebanon, Germany, Norway, and India, among others. The trips enable students to develop and enrich their journalism and media expertise by allowing them to interact with participating journalists from various counties.
JMI invites all who are interested in the field of journalism and media, and who want to apply and utilize its tools, to apply to the master’s program of intensive instruction through either its Thesis or Comprehensive Examination Track. Due to JMI’s academic agreement with the University of Jordan, the School of Graduate Studies will award an accredited scientific degree to graduates of the master’s program that JMI offers. The program includes 33 credit hours in either of two tracks (comprehensive examination and thesis) and grants a master’s degree after one full year in the Comprehensive Examination Track. The Thesis Track devotes nine hours for the development of a scientific thesis, and the full length of the program is at least one and a half years.
