Jordan Media Institute (JMI) has concluded the second part of an intensive Training of Trainers (ToT) in collaboration with the Deutsche Welle (DW) Akademie, in which 14 trainees were instructed on modern, visual and interactive presentation technologies.

Participants had completed the first part, which focused on advanced skills in media and informational literacy, in mid-February.

Dr. Ziad Rifai, JMI Dean, stated that the goal of this ToT workshop is the development of a media and informational literacy team with JMI, equipped to “train teachers to the fullest extent”.

Muna Najjar, the program’s trainer and manager at DW Akademie, said that the workshop implemented interactive teaching and training methods. She declared the program a success, and encouraged participants to translate the goals of training workshops they will themselves hold into practical exercises and always strive to find new methods of training.

In the same context, DW Director General Peter Limburg praised the collaboration with JMI during an official visit at the end of February. He deemed it a model for success that can be achieved through the exchange of expertise and experiences between institutes around the world, to the end of serving journalism and communities.

The trainers will now pass on their expertise to thousands of teachers at schools over a period of more than three years. This is within the framework of the strategic partnership between the Ministry of Education and JMI, the executive branch of the national initiative undertaken by the government last year. It includes four key components: general secondary education, universities and private and public higher education institutions, youth centers, and civil society.
