JMI Conducts Training Program in Tunisia on Podcasts

4.6.2017<br /> Amman -- The Jordan Media Institute (JMI), in cooperation with the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), which is based in the capital, Tunis, carried out an advanced training program on podcasts, with the participation of Arab radio professionals. This is part of the MedMedia project (Maidan), which is funded by the EU.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> The four-day training program, in which radio professionals from Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Sudan, and Mauritania took part, aimed at developing the skills of the participants through providing theoretical and applied knowledge that is necessary for producing and distributing podcasts as a digital means in the age of digital media. The program included the theoretical and practical aspects of the use of podcasts in a positive manner via social media outlets and networks.<br /> <br /> Upon opening the training program, Engineer Abdelrahim Suleiman, director general of the ASBU, praised the cooperation between the ASBU&#39;s Media Training Academy and the JMI and its vital role in developing the capacities of Arab media persons. He expressed thanks to the MedMedia-Maidan project for supporting this advanced workshop.<br /> <br /> JMI Dean Dr. Basim Tweissi stressed the importance of the existing cooperation between the JMI and the ASBU to promote the performance of the staff of radio and television stations in the Arab world to keep up with international developments.<br /> <br /> Imad Rawashdeh, a trainer in the program, presented the basic principles of podcasting and the various platforms used for uploading it, with the contribution of activists in podcasting from Amman and London via Skype. The participants conducted a number of practical exercises to produce and upload podcasts that express opinions that serve and defend the public interest.<br /> <br /> The ASBU had inaugurated modern television and radio training studios that were used in the training.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> It is worth mentioning that the JMI conducts trainings on enhancing media capacities on the local and regional levels.
