Amman, (Jordan Media Institute) - The Jordan Media Institute (JMI) debated two research studies by students seeking to earn the MA degree. The first was titled "Impact of Turkish Media Rhetoric on Opinion Leaders in Jordan: Members of 17th Parliament as Example," while the second was titled "CNN Arabic Website Coverage of Iraq News 2014-2015." The two studies were supervised by Dr. Jamal Shalabi.

The study on "the impact of the Turkish media rhetoric on opinion leaders in Jordan," conducted by Saqr Ammuri, showed that the Turkish media rhetoric had an impact on opinion leaders in Jordan, according to the respondents, who were members of the 17th Lower House of Parliament. The majority of the respondents, 86%, said that they followed different Turkish media outlets, while 70% of them said that they benefited from what the Turkish media presents, especially with regard to political decisions. Also, 63% said that they relied on Turkish media, on many occasions, to identify the positions of Turkish public opinion, while 46% of the respondents were not influenced by what the Turkish media presents.

As for the study on the coverage of CNN's Arabic website of Iraqi news, conducted by Aws Owaini, it showed that the website is primarily interested in security developments in Iraq despite the fact that there are numerous political events. Also, international relations are among the political topics that are most covered by the website. Likewise, news related to energy is most covered in terms of economic topics.

The study recommended that researchers conduct more media studies on covering security and political crises with regard to the Iraqi affair and the countries that witnessed similar events, while focusing on increasing media studies that compare Western and Arab media vis-à-vis the coverage of armed and radical groups.

It is worth noting that the JMI has started receiving applications for the MA program in Journalism and New Media for the year 2017/2018 until 6 July.
