Amman - The Jordan Media Institute (JMI) held a media and communication skills training for youth from Maan and Tafileh governorates under the project entitled: "Enhancing access to employment and increasing the income of the poor in Karak, Tafileh, Maan and Aqaba by improving employment opportunities and vocational training."

The workshop, which involved 35 participants, covered the essential skills needed within media and communication fields, in order to be able to produce media materials that highlight the projects carried out by the participating associations.

JMI Projects Manager, Nihad Jariri, said that the project focused on "building communication channels within the targeted associations so that those working on the associated projects are able to efficiently perform their tasks, such as organizing events and activities that are held by these local associations whether by writing news stories, designing brochures or by filming videos."

Jariri added, "It is anticipated that this training will allow participants to further develop their skills and accordingly produce their own media materials that will help them enrich their CVs and thus increase their employment chances."

The principle of the project revolves around providing technical and vocational learning opportunities that will result in reducing unemployment, poverty and the collective exclusion of vulnerable segments of the population.

Designed and conducted in cooperation with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and in collaboration with the Istituto per la Cooperazione Universitaria (ICU), the project aims at improving the professional skills of vulnerable groups and at enhancing the services provided within both local and Syrian refugee communities.
