JMI Hosts Workshop on Journalist Safety Curriculum

28 January 2015<br /> &nbsp;<br /> The Jordan Media Institute (JMI) hosted a workshop to integrate journalists&rsquo; safety into university curricula.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> The three-day workshop, organized by the UNESCO Beirut office and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) in cooperation with the Jordan Press Association, was held from 26 to 28 January 2015.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Participants, who included 10 deans of journalism universities and lecturers from Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine, discussed a draft safety curriculum that will be developed into an academic course for universities across the Arab world.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Her Royal Highness Princess Rym Ali, who is the founder of JMI and a former broadcast journalist, addressed the participants and shared her experience in reporting from conflict zones. She also highlighted the importance of providing training and protection for local and other journalists covering conflicts.
