JMI Launches Broadcasting Conference

<div>4 May 2015<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Media Experts, academics and journalists from around the world gathered in Amman for the opening tomorrow, Tuesday 6 May 2015, of the conference on Radio and Television Broadcasting: Policies, Transformations, Challenges.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> The two-day meeting will be held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Rym Ali, founder of the Jordan Media Institute which is organizing the event in cooperation with the Norwegian Institute of Journalism.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> The conference will tackle themes related to new trends in the broadcasting industry, media legislation, ethical and professional challenges, and investment in television, as well as the state of public service broadcasting in Jordan and the Arab world.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> More than 20 experts from Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia, Qatar, Norway, UK, France and Italy will take part in the sessions.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Former head of BBC Arabic, Hosam Sokkari will deliver a speech during the opening session entitled, The Media is Dead &hellip; Long Live Journalism, while Slimane Zeghidour, chief editor of TV5 will join him in a speech about going back to basics in broadcasting.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Other participants including Jamal Zarin from Qatar University will discuss transformation of Arab satellite channels into public service models. Frode Rekve from the Norwegian Institute of Journalism will discuss public service broadcasting and democracy, while Justin Kings from Eurovision Academy will tackle digital newsrooms and professional challenges.
