Amman – Jordan Media Institute (JMI) will start receiving applications, as of today, for the MA Program of Journalism and New Media for the 10th intake for the year 2018-2019. The program is offered by JMI, in cooperation with the University of Jordan.
JMI will offer 40 scholarships. Students admitted into the program, whether Jordanians or Arabs, from various academic specializations, can receive a full or partial scholarship.
JMI Dean Dr. Basim Tweissi said that JMI has taken significant steps as it prepares for receiving the 10th intake. He said that JMI adopts special and distinct academic programs based on balance between theory and practice and integrating communication technology and modern digital applications. This has made it a destination for all those seeking excellence in performance and professionalism.
Dr. Tweissi noted that the MA program, which is offered as part of two tracks, comprehensive examination and academic thesis, aims at graduating specialized and professional journalists who are equipped with advanced skills, specifically in digital journalism, which has become indispensable in contemporary media.
He indicated that JMI is the first Arab educational institution to develop applied curricula in journalism, taking advantage of the elements of the digital environment, besides focusing on building a strong knowledge and cultural foundation for students.
Each year, JMI provides academic study and training tours in a number of countries, including Germany, Norway, India, Lebanon, and others. These help increase the journalistic experiences of students and allow them to interact with participants from other countries. The program of activities and parallel lectures also provides more opportunities for students to learn about other aspects through guest lecturers that it hosts from all over the world.
JMI dean urged journalists, media persons, and others who wish to work in the field of media, from various specializations, to take advantage of this opportunity by applying and competing for admission and receiving a full or partial scholarship. It is to be noted that 93% of JMI graduates work in press and media establishments.
Students who wish to apply can do that directly or fill out a form online via JMI website (www.jmi.edu.jo) by 6 July 2018. Students residing outside the Kingdom can sit for the written test in their country of residence.
To be admitted into JMI, a student must be a holder of the first university degree (BA) in any specialization. He must also pass the admission tests. Those who wish to apply can view samples of these tests on JMI website.
