A student from the Jordan Media Institute (JMI) has joined 71 students from 20 countries in the program of the Salzburg Academy on Media and Global Change, which is organized annually to increase media literacy.

Sandra Zawaideh, who is doing an MA in journalism and new media, took part in the sessions that lasted three weeks, from 17 July to 6 August. She received thanks from the organizers for her distinguished participation. The sessions discussed migration and highlighting the civilian needs of people in the media.

The program included workshops for developing the skills of participants, intensive discussions, and lectures delivered by media experts. The participants managed to develop innovative strategies and modern media instruments to influence their local and global communities. The students addressed the crisis of migration and refugees globally, particularly in Europe, ways to tackle it, and its impact on different communities.

Zawaideh said that the importance of the course lies in the topics that were raised as part of the intensive lectures. This has broadened the participants' understanding of global change, the impact of migration, and future aspirations in a bid to find solutions to migration and the question of refugees.

Zawaideh did a graduation project to complete her participation in the program. She produced a video report on how European countries treat refugees who are minors and who are living without their parents. She received a letter of thanks from the Academy for her distinguished effort in this project and her commitment. JMI is one of the partners of the Salzburg Academy on Media and Global Change, besides a number of international academic institutions that are specialized in media.
