Amman, 12 June 2012 Students of Jordan Media Institute arrived in Amman after a weeklong visit to Norway where they were able to visit several media establishments alongside official Norwegian institutes. The trip was organized in cooperation with the Norwegian Embassy in Amman where the students were received by Institute of Journalism in Fredrikstad. During the visit to the Institute of Journalism in Fredrikstad the students were briefed on the role the institute plays in providing various media trainings to Norwegian journalists in addition to attending several lectures addressing different issues among them the practice of ethical guidelines in Norwegian news rooms and gender issues in media “ we were thoroughly briefed on a number of key issues and mechanisms related to press freedom and media professionalism where we witnessed how efforts of all involved be it in academic and legislative circles, alongside other entities can build access to professional and free media content” Said Anoud Al Zoubi upon her arrival in Amman. In Oslo, JMI students toured the Norwegian Parliament and met with the Committee of Foreign Affairs, in addition to visiting the University College of Journalism, the Nobel Institute, the Norwegian Union of Journalists, the Norwegian Broadcasting Company and Al Jazeera Offices. This trip enabled students at JMI to exchange views and experience on different issues with representatives met during their stay in Norway, and it forms a part of the efforts devoted by JMI for its Master’s program students to add to their knowledge and exposure in the aim to developing their journalistic skills and knowledge.
