Amman – The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information of the Sultanate of Oman, Ali bin Khalfan Al Jabri, accompanied by the Director of the Undersecretary Office, Badr bin Yahya Al Rashdi, paid a visit to Jordan Media Institute (JMI) in Amman where they were briefed on the Institute's academic profile and its Master's Program in Journalism and New Media.
While touring the premises, Al Jabri voiced his admiration for the programs and modern facilities available at JMI –such as the newsrooms and radio and TV studios– which provide the necessary equipment to enable students to create high quality journalism during their period of study.
During his visit, Al Jabri expressed his keenness to intensify collaborations with JMI in various training and academic programmes including student-exchange and joint-training opportunities that feature both students and graduates from JMI and the Sultanate of Oman.
Al Jabri was briefed on JMI’s projects and its achieved objectives, especially in the field of media literacy and within the project of the Jordanian Media Credibility Monitor “Akeed”. The Omani official praised the level of media in Jordan and commended JMI’s efforts for improving the status of journalism in the region through offering educational initiatives as well as conducting advanced training and workshops.
JMI Dean, Dr. Basim Tweissi, introduced the guests to JMI’s establishment and philosophy, stressing that JMI aims at enhancing the skills and capabilities of journalists in Jordan and the region through its Master's Programme in Journalism and New Media, which incorporates practical training with top-quality education. Tweissi also stated that JMI provides various training courses, specialized seminars and media projects which are provided through its various partnerships with local and international entities and organizations.
