Project: Effective and Specialized Media Coverage of Economic and Financial Issues

Objectives:

The project aimed to improve journalists’ capabilities in covering business-related topics, such as:

  1. Economic and financial developments in the Kingdom and the mid-term fiscal framework.
  2. Financial decentralization.
  3. Public-private partnership.

Project Description:

The project entailed organizing three workshops. During the three-day workshops, journalists were introduced to these topics and the training focused on:

  1. Collecting economic information and sources of financial news.
  2. Dealing with financial data and how to process this information in news stories.
  3. Simplifying the economic and financial content for the public.
  4. Humanize economic content and digital data.
  5. Handling tables and figures to create news stories.
  6. Making links between budget indicators.
  7. Writing economic and financial news stories using available sources.
  8. Using digital tools and infographics.

Project Outputs:

  1. The first workshop was held for 15 journalists from various media outlets in the television, radio and print media sectors.
  2. The second workshop was held for 12 journalists from various media outlets in the television, radio and print media sectors.
  3. The third workshop was held for 13 journalists from various media outlets in the television, radio and print media sectors.
