Amman, 27 December (JMI) -- A student delegation from the Faculty of Educational Sciences at Al al-Bayt University today, Tuesday, visited the Jordan Media Institute (JMI) as part of the media and information literacy program, which JMI is implementing in partnership with UNESCO and through funding from the EU.<br />

Bayan Tal, adviser at JMI and director of the project, spoke to the student delegation about the importance of media literacy in raising awareness among all segments of society on how to handle information and tell professional news from misleading or false news. <br />
<br />
The delegation, which includes a team of young people who are active on social media sites, made a tour of JMI facilities and learned about its programs, which aim at developing new standards for teaching journalism in Jordan and the Middle East. <br />
<br />
The students highlighted some of their media and theatrical productions that seek to raise awareness on a number of issues, such as drugs and conserving the environment. <br />
<br />
The students were accompanied by Dr. Wael Shurman, assistant to the dean of the faculty, and Dr. Reem Zoubi, education professor and supervisor of student activities. <br />
