This study was part of a joint project with the French Media Development Agency (CFI) operating under the umbrella of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development and UNESCO. It aimed to identify training priorities from the perspective of the journalists themselves as well as media institution leaders.
The goal of the research was to provide comprehensive preliminary information on journalists’ level of involvement in training programs in the last two years. The study sought to ascertain the training needs of journalists of various professional levels, taking into account the type of media they work in and the regions in which they operate. It also aimed to identify the main obstacles to media training, learn about satisfaction levels with current programs and offer recommendations on training priorities in all fields and for every media outlet. The study sample included 250 male and female journalists and 40 chief editors and managers in media institutions.
