ِAmman – In cooperation with the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and the Facebook Journalism Project, Jordan Media Institute (JMI) held two training workshops entitled "Facebook Journalism".

Attended by 60 participants, the workshop focused on the process of storytelling, news verification, account security and viewers’ interaction.

JMI Projects Manager, Nihad Jariri, said that the workshop came within the framework of JMI’s continuous efforts in designing programs and platforms that counter fake news, promote media and information literacy concepts, and focus on modern communication technologies which are constantly spreading and developing.

Media Consultant and Trainer, Rawan Damen, said that this “workshop comes as part of a program that intends to train 2,500 journalists across the Arab World, including 120 journalists from Jordan, in order to empower them with the skills needed to sort fact from fiction across social platforms, secure their digital presence and interact with their audiences."

Damen added that participants have shown great interest in learning about validation methods as “their need to develop their digital security skills was evident, whether for securing metadata and robust data, identity information or digital footprint.”

Similarly, JMI will conduct two more training workshops for another 60 participants on Saturday and Sunday of next week.
