Workshop Entitled “Basic Skills of Official Spokespersons” at JMI

Amman – Jordan Media Institute (JMI) continued the workshop entitled “Basic Skills of Official Spokespersons” which focuses on building and developing the skills of official spokespersons in the public sector.

The workshop discussed three main topics; good practices in dealing with various media outlets, conducting TV interviews, writing press releases and organizing press conferences.

JMI Projects Manager, Nihad Jariri, explained that "the workshop exhibited the complex role of official spokespersons and PR employees in the public sectors in terms of producing press materials that are addressed to the media, while at the same having the needed skills in dealing with the press and media outlets and the basic practices in dealing with journalists and media professionals.”

Participant and media spokesperson at the General Budget Department, Murad Abdul Halim, talked about the usefulness of the workshop and how it provided participants with the practical aspects of media skills such as preparing press releases and conducting TV interviews in a professional manner. These skills will positively affect the overall performance of media spokespersons and further develop their skills, he added.

The program, which is initiated and implemented by Jordan Media Institute, targets 50 spokespersons and will span across the period of six weeks.
