partners:

Objectives:

The project’s goal was to conduct studies on population media and communications through the JMI Media Research Unit. Population media is a form of development communication that seeks to change individual behavior and thus create social change using various activities and means. This project led to others with the same partner in 2016 and 2017.

Project Description:

The project entailed carrying out a study to describe and assess the current status of the Population Communication and Production Unit at Jordan Radio and Television (JRTV); determining the feasibility of investing in its development; and integrating the demographic window of opportunity with the JRTV media policy. The assessment process was conducted on three levels: institutional and physical, human resources and production evaluation.

Project Outputs:

  1. Training a group of journalists to cover population-related news.
  2. Conducting an “Assessment of the Population Communication and Production Unit at Jordan Radio and Television”.
  3. Launching the “Development of the National Population Media Strategy” project and initiating implementation in 2016.
