Amman - Jordan Media Institute (JMI) and Deutsche Welle (DW) signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation in the field of media training and media support.
Under the arrangement, training and capacity building courses will be offered to JMI students and staff, in addition to facilitating student exchange programs and workshops. Training material will also be provided.
JMI Dean, Dr. Basim Tweisi said the memorandum seeks to build a sustainable partnership with the German broadcaster, and means that JMI students will get more opportunities to receive training at German media corporations. Additionally, the MOU will help organize media and cultural exchange programs and back JMI efforts that seek to develop the media industry in Jordan, he noted.
Miriam Klement, DW Distribution Executive - MENA Region said the MOU aims to improve and enhance partnerships with outstanding media and educational institutes, including the JMI. Educational and academic media institutes will also be able to use advanced German technologies under the arrangement, she added.
It is worth noting that the JMI, in cooperation with DW, organized an open day last week for JMI and journalism and media students in a number of Jordanian universities. During the event, DW gave students one-year free subscriptions.
